Inclusive User Manual

  • What is it for? This chatbot is an educational tool designed to improve cybersecurity awareness for people with sensory disabilities.
  • It is based on an inclusive model combining accessibility, digital education, and safe online behavior.
  • The web interface is responsive, screen-reader friendly, and mobile-compatible.

2. Accessing the chatbot

  • Open the chatbot in a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) on any device — computer, tablet, or phone. It also works with assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and Braille displays through the browser.
  • On load, a welcome message is displayed:
    “Welcome! This chatbot supports screen readers and voice output. Press Enter or click anywhere to activate voice guidance.”

3. Instructions for blind or low-vision users

Voice guidance activation
  • Press Enter or click anywhere to enable voice guidance.
  • The system confirms with: “Voice guidance activated. You can navigate using Tab and press Enter to select options.”
Keyboard navigation
  • Use Tab to move through messages and options.
  • Press Enter to activate the focused item.
  • Voice will automatically read each focused element.
Additional functions
  • Toggle voice with the top-right button: 🔈 Voice On / Off.
  • At the end, the chatbot says: “Thanks for your interest in improving your cybersecurity awareness. You may close this window now.”
  • You may close the window manually or with Alt + F4.
Screen-reader compatibility

The system was tested with NVDA and ChromeVox, ensuring full reading of content, options, and feedback.

4. Instructions for deaf or hard-of-hearing users

Visual interface
  • Dark blue: bot messages
  • Dark gray: user messages

Multiple-choice questions are presented as large, clear buttons, selectable with mouse or keyboard.

Immediate visual feedback
  • On incorrect answers, a pop-up appears in the bottom-right corner: ❌ Incorrect answer. Try again!
  • Correct answers display positive feedback and a safety Tip at the end of each topic.
Navigation without audio

The chatbot is fully usable without enabling voice; all interactions are visual and keyboard accessible.
